L.A. Opens Tourism office in Beijing

Posted by Maggie Rauch on October 09, 2006

Western interest in outbound travel from China is definitely growing. Los Angeles is looking to become the first city to open a tourism office there, according to this AP story. In the past, China has only allowed national tourism organizations to open such offices, with few exceptions (the Nevada Tourism Commission is one such exception).

The story does not say LA will be going after incentive business, but take a look at Year of the Carrot, a story in the October issue of Incentive, for some reasons why they probably will.
