I got the coolest holiday e-card from a coworker and wanted to share it with everyone.
At the end of the e-card, she jokingly says: “Down with resolutions, and up with lowered expectations!” For me, the message really hit home. Actually, it could be my new mantra!
This year, I made no resolutions. I’m working on myself and my career at a pace that’s comfortable and 10 days into the new year I can truly say it’s working for me.
As a result, I’m not as stressed as I was in previous years because I’m not charging out the gate trying to tackle new lofty (sometimes unattainable) goals. Instead, I break down daily and long-term tasks into simple to-do lists, complete each one without haste, and then I move on to the next task.
While “goal-free living” is not for everyone, I think taking a new approach to getting things done is the way to go for some of us.
Tell us what you think. Are you starting off the year with a new set of goals? Or did you resolve to skip resolutions all together?
