It is so sad that only 22% of 3257 polled would actually say that they like their jobs. For those that do, congratulations on finding the right company and enjoying your work. For those that don't, now is the time to find out how to make changes. Life is too short not to enjoy how you spend most of your waking hours, which for most of us, is at work. Here are a few tips I can offer:
1. Find some time by yourself when you can reflect on what you like and don't like about your current work situation. Most of us don't take the time to reflect on the specific factors.
2. For the things you like, is there an opportunity to do more of those activities at your current company.
3. For the things you dislike, is there a way to change them? What actions could you take?
4. If you find that you are miserable each day, then make a change. You control your destiny and don't need to be in an unhappy situation. Start applying for new jobs. Look at what else is available. A change in your work environment may be needed.
5. If you've been changing jobs frequently and are continuously unhappy, look within yourself. An attitude change may be required. You may be creating your own unhappy situation.
