Are you ready to party like it is 1999? Well jump on in, because the job market is heating up again, and it is creating a path to superior career growth, a bigger paycheck, and overall more options to find a better work environment.
Simply put, the "law of supply and demand" is working in your favor—there are more jobs then qualified candidates to fill them. Hence, many companies need to stretch and loosen some of their requirements in order to fill the jobs.
For example, let's say a company wants a "business development executive" with 10 years experience in IT consulting focused on the telecommunications vertical. In a hot job market, there is a higher probability that the employer will have to bend on their criteria. This gives individuals who want to make a career move into this industry the opportunity to break in, even if they only have two of the three criteria required for the position.
A tight job market also leads to a bigger paycheck. If companies want to lure away top talent, they have to provide a monetary incentive to do so. Consequently, individuals can increase their compensation and career status, because the barriers of entry have been minimized as outlined in the above example.
As we all know, money isn't everything if you don't like your job. For many of us, making a move to a better work environment can have a major impact on the quality of our lives e.g., shorter commute, work from home, increased vacation, better cultural fit.
In the words of Alexander Graham Bell, "Sometimes we stare so long at a door that is closing that we see too late the one that is open."
The door to your dream job is open today, do not delay!
