Moving to a different location can be a long and arduous process. And
it's no different in the workplace where moving can be a hectic,
fast-paced, unorganized and generally unpleasant experience. It is
important for companies and employees to be prepared when moving
offices, so that the process can be as quick and painless as possible.
123movers.com offers the following helpful tips for office moving:
1) Preparing for the Move
The most important part of moving a corporation is to plan everything
out in advance. Business is about making money so the major goal in a
corporate move is to be cost-efficient. You can't do business when all
your employees' affect are packed in a box. One of the ways to obtain
this goal is to be time-efficient. The less time you spend moving, the
more cost-efficient you will be for your company. And that takes proper
planning.
2) Correspond with Everyone
Communication is key. Make sure that everyone (employees, landlords,
movers, renters, etc.) is aware of every detail. They need to know the
exact moving plan before the actual move-where, when, how and how long.
The less questions, the better.
3 Supervisors, it is your responsibility to have your staff follow the
instructions in the Office Moving Guide--and be sure employees in your
department or section receive this. Personnel should be functioning in
the new offices on a normal basis immediately after reporting to work,
if the move is properly preplanned.
4) Employees, you are responsible for packing certain items before the
actual move-such as files, books and knick-knacks. Make sure to follow
all corporate instructions. They will be of assistance to you before and
after the move.
5) The mover cannot be responsible for your personal possessions. Make
sure to move confidential or security-risk items and documents
privately. If you need special containers, ask your moving consultant or
manager.
6) Pack all desk contents. This includes current working papers, letter
trays, books and other items. Seal paper clips, pencils and all other
loose materials in envelopes and then pack them in boxes. Protect all
glass with paper or other stuffing.
