It may seem like every company in the free world (and then some) has drunk the social media Kool-Aid, but in reality, no small number of them still harbor major trepidations about all thing Facebook and Twitter.
According to a new national survey of management, marketing, and human resource executives—courtesy of Russell Herder and Ethos Business Law—eight out of 10 businesses admitted to having concerns over social media.
The top fear (expressed by 51 percent of surveyed executives) is that social media usage will have a negative impact on employee productivity. Close behind, 49 percent say they’re concerned about social media use damaging their company’s reputation.
Out of those respondents who aren’t currently using social media on a corporate basis, 40 percent chalk up their lack of implementation to security issues. Thirty-seven percent cite the aforementioned productivity concerns, while 51 percent admit just not knowing enough about the subject.
All of that said, the vast majority of respondents readily acknowledged the strategic value of social networking. A whopping 81 percent said social media has the potential to enhance relationships with customers, and the same percentage of executives believe it can boost their brand’s reputation.

This is expected, but I think to get ahead, businesses just have to suck it up and go ahead with it. You have to be risk-taking to get ahead, and I think this time it's actually pretty worthwhile, especially if you do it right. Create a personal, fun video and get it up on AdWido, YouTube, and other video sites. If it's interesting enough, people will definitely share it, and you'll be able to get ahead! Maybe people could use an ad like this for reference, to see if theirs is good enough: http://adwido.com/view_content?vkey=6c1b21cfe6ef576b9816c0643c933b5a haha.
