Another note of cautious optimism for job-seekers: According to the newly released Help-Wanted OnLine Data Series from The Conference Board (a nonprofit business membership and research organization), online advertised vacancies rose by 106,500 in November, for a total of 3,386,000.
It’s a significant increase, as online labor demand had been slowly inching upward since its April nadir—to the tune of approximately 32,000 new postings per month.
Which occupations best reflect these gains? computer and mathematical science lead the pack, up 35,400 in November. Sales, the profession that experienced the largest October gain (46,100), saw an additional 16,000 increase. Business and finance openings saw an uptick of 13,200.
As for management occupations, those rose 2,200 in November to 353,700. The biggest increases were for managers in the finance and the CIS fields.
